|
Incubated venous blood with a solution of Nitroblue-Tetrazolium (N.B.T.) which 200 white blood cell were examined for cell containing dark deposits of formazan (reduced N. B. T) on 80 normal persons for control study and 139 patients who was admitted to Korea University Hospital from May 19772 to Oct. 1972.
The mean proportien of such N. B.T. positive leukocytes in bacterial infection (23.14%) and the other diseases (19.88%) except peptic ulcer (7.20%) were increased significantly, however the viral infection (5.14%) was not increased significantly than the control group (6.08%).
Therefore, the N.B.T. test was offered as a new, simple diagnostic aid in differentiating bacterial infection from viral diseases and other specific diseases.
